Eoin Geary Awarded an Uisce Éireann Irish Water Infrastructure Delivery Safety Excellence Award

Eoin Geary is a Site Project Engineer and currently our onsite PSCS Site Co-Ordinator for the ECI project in Tullow, Co. Carlow. He was named one of the winners at today’s Uisce Éireann Irish Water Infrastructure Delivery Safety Excellence Awards hosted over Zoom.

Eoin joined EPS in August 2021 and he was nominated for his swift reaction to a serious fire emanating from a gas bottle on site.

Without hesitation, having fully appreciated and understood the potential personnel risks involved by such an incident, Eoin initiated a site emergency evacuation procedure, all personnel were evacuated to the site assembly point under Eoin’s direct supervision, in a controlled, efficient manner and in accordance with the EPS emergency evacuation procedures.

We can practise and pre-empt conditions that require the initiation of such an emergency evacuation procedure, but to execute this under live circumstances in the manner that Eoin did speaks volumes of his ability to manage an incident of this nature and we are proud to say that Eoin espouses our safety motto – Think Safe, Work Safe, Be Safe.

Accepting his prize, Eoin thanked EPS for the nomination, Uisce Éireann and our sub contractors, Shay Murtagh Precast Ltd.
