EPS leads the way in Sustainable Energy

About

EPS was recently acknowledged for its ongoing sustainable energy efforts at the recent Sustainable Energy Awards for 2011.

EPS was one of 36 leading Irish companies that has introduced sustainable energy initiatives across its operations. The Sustainable Energy Awards reward excellence in energy management which this year attracted 105 entrants.

EPS, as the only organisation selected representing the water sector, competed for the overall large users’ category against the National Aquatic Centre, RTE, Croke Park and Novartis. EPS in the end lost out to EMC Ovens for the overall award.

Presenting the awards was the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Mr Pat Rabbitte T.D.

“The economic results we are seeing from organisations entering the awards are very encouraging. They translate directly into more cost competitive business and more cost efficient public service”

This is our first year participating in the awards and we are honoured to have made the shortlist for such a competitive category and to finish as we did in the end was also very encouraging. Our Energy and Environment Committee, supported by all in EPS, has achieved significant energy savings over the past two years. This effort is continuing and will ensure that EPS remains at the forefront in our sector with regard to energy sustainability. EPS will continue to ensure we are energy focused in all of our activities going forward. As a provider of water and waste water services we are very focused on sustainable energy practices
