EPS goes Green ahead of 2018 National Awards - 2 Nominations

EPS Group’s commitment to sustainability and environmental protection has been recognised ahead of this year’s Green Awards, which will be held in Dublin on Tuesday, February 20th. The company, which has its main office in Mallow, has been shortlisted for both the Green Construction and the Sustainable Water Achievement Awards.

Whether serving small rural communities or large conurbations, EPS Group is acutely aware of the company’s role in providing clean water to communities and treating wastewater to protect the environment.

The company’s Off-Site Construction (OSC) process secured the Green Construction shortlisting. Managing Director Patrick Buckley explains. “In recent years, EPS has adopted OSC as a core part of our business strategy. This has been done to improve efficiency, quality, safety and carbon footprint and to reduce costs and risk associated with construction works in our company. This required designing a plant layout to combine multiple products and disciplines in one package which can be fabricated, assembled and tested off-site and delivered on-site as a ‘plug and play’ solution”.

Meanwhile, the project shortlisted for the Sustainable Water Achievement Award came from the team themselves. Patrick notes, “During internal ISO:14001 audits, team members challenged themselves to come up with environmental improvement programmes. Our Drogheda, Dundalk and Ballymahon plant teams were aware of high potable water use and determined that some processes did not require water treated to this standard & therefore decided to reuse some of the final effluent water as process water where feasible”.

It all stems back to EPS’ commitment as a company to minimise the impact of its business activities on the environment.

As we approach our 50th anniversary, our vision to be the most sustainable company in our industry endures and we encourage and enable sustainability through creating solutions which enable our customers to responsibly manage and conserve energy and water resources

EPS Group is no stranger to success at the Green Awards, having won in 2016 for the introduction of the revolutionary Nereda technology to the Irish market, and in 2012 in the Energy Efficiency category. The Green Awards take place in the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road, Dublin on Tuesday, February 20th.
