When family businesses combine..!

Craigs brings 143 Years Experience to EPS Group

EPS Group, Ireland’s leading provider of water and wastewater pumping and treatment solutions, is delighted to announce the acquisition of Robert Craig & Sons, Lisburn, a fifth-generation engineering business renowned for its expertise in niche industrial pumps and equipment.

This strategic partnership promises to enhance both companies’ offerings, combining decades of heritage with cutting-edge innovation.

Founded in 1882, Robert Craig & Sons has evolved most recently under the stewardship of Managing Director David Craig, who has led the company for the past 20 years.

During this time, Craigs has transitioned from a generalist engineering company to a specialist supplier of industrial pumps and bespoke equipment. With a focus on unique, value-added solutions—including customised pumps, AdBlue and diesel fuel pumping systems, and portable fuel polishing equipment—Craigs has earned a reputation for tackling small but complex projects that others often shy away from.

The acquisition aligns perfectly with EPS Group’s commitment to delivering world-class solutions for customers across diverse sectors. By integrating EPS’ extensive product range and resources with Craigs’ niche expertise, the partnership will unlock new opportunities, particularly in areas like the data centre market, where demand for specialist fuel filtration and transfer systems is rapidly growing.

David Craig, Managing Director of Robert Craig & Sons, commented: “This is an exciting new chapter for Craigs as we approach our 150th anniversary. Joining the EPS Group family allows us to scale our operations, broaden our product range and deliver even greater value to our customers. Craigs and EPS share a strong cultural synergy and this partnership is a natural fit. We’re looking forward to working together to expand our presence in markets such as construction, OEM manufacturing and environmental equipment.”

Patrick Buckley, Managing Director of EPS Group, added: “As a family business, we’re thrilled to welcome Craigs into the Group. Their unparalleled engineering heritage and specialist expertise complement our mission to deliver innovative and reliable solutions to our customers. Together, we will expand our capabilities and drive growth in key sectors, from industrial pumping systems to cutting-edge construction and environmental technologies. This partnership embodies our shared commitment to excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction.”

This move will allow Craigs to quote for larger contracts, particularly in the data centre market; expand its product offerings alongside EPS’ industrial pump range to complement its existing pumping product lines; to grow its footprint in the construction sector, leveraging its partnership with Husqvarna and to support demolition robotics and air filtration technologies and to continue delivering bespoke solutions for OEM manufacturers and direct export markets.

Craigs has an unrivalled pedigree in pump technology, having designed and manufactured its first spiral case water turbine for a project at Gleno, Larne in 1921. Records show that Craigs was also the first firm in Ireland to manufacture and install a range of centrifugal, axial flow and displacement pumps with over 350 systems delivered by 1957 across Ireland and Scotland.

The combined strengths of EPS Group and Robert Craig & Sons will ensure customers and suppliers benefit from an enhanced range of services, backed by a rich legacy of engineering excellence and an unwavering focus on innovation.
